Frequently
Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about working with Kindred Talent — from brief to placement and beyond.
How does Kindred Talent differ from other recruiters?
We’re a referral network. Every person we introduce is someone we know personally and would vouch for — briefed on your business, culture and goals, never a CV sprayed from a list.
Our specialism in marketing, creative and digital means we understand each discipline — seniority bands, agency-vs-in-house dynamics, and what “good” actually looks like.
What industries and functions do you specialise in?
We focus exclusively on marketing, creative, digital, and brand — in-house and agency side. This includes CMOs, Heads of Marketing, Brand Strategists, Content leads, Performance specialists, and Creative Directors. We don't generalist-hire.
Do you work with startups and scale-ups?
Absolutely. We particularly enjoy working with growth-stage businesses building their marketing function for the first time, or scaling it quickly. We understand the pace, constraints, and calibre of hire needed to make an outsized impact early.
Are you Australia-wide or city-specific?
We're based in Sydney and place talent across Australia. We work with clients and candidates who operate remotely or in hybrid arrangements, so geography rarely limits what we can do together.
How do I get started with Kindred Talent?
Get in touch via our contact form or email us directly. We'll book a briefing call to understand your needs, your team, and what success looks like. From there, we move quickly.
How long does a typical permanent placement take?
3–5 weeks from brief to offer is our typical range. We move quickly but never at the cost of quality. The brief call, longlist, shortlist, interviews, and offer stage are all managed by us so nothing falls through the cracks.
What is your fee structure for permanent hires?
We charge a percentage of the candidate's first-year base salary, agreed upfront before work begins. We're transparent about this from the first conversation.
Do you offer a guarantee period?
Yes — a 90-day replacement guarantee. If a placed hire doesn’t work out within 90 days, we’ll find a replacement. It rarely comes to that, thanks to the quality of our briefing and matching — but you’re covered if the unexpected happens.
How many candidates will you present?
We typically present 3–5 shortlisted candidates — not 20. We do the filtering so you spend your time only on people we're genuinely confident about. Each comes with written profile notes and our recommendation.
What does "fractional" mean in practice?
A fractional CMO or Head of Brand works with you part-time — typically one to three days a week — embedded in your team as a genuine senior leader, without the full-time cost or commitment. Ideal for businesses that need strategic leadership before they’re ready to hire permanently.
How do we structure a fractional engagement?
We brief our network, present matched candidates, and facilitate a trial period of 4–8 weeks before any longer commitment. Day rate, hours, and scope are agreed between you and the candidate — we facilitate the introduction and structure, not the contract.
Can fractional lead to a permanent hire?
Yes, and it happens often. Starting fractional is a smart way to trial a senior hire before committing to a full salary. If both sides want to make it permanent, we'll handle the transition.
How quickly can contractors start?
Often within 1–2 weeks. We maintain a warm bench of vetted contractors across marketing, creative, and digital — so when you need to move fast, we can. Brief us today, candidates tomorrow.
Do contractors work on-site or remote?
Either — or a mix. We match working style to your team's preference and the candidate's situation. Most contractors we place are comfortable with hybrid. We confirm arrangements during the brief.
